As of Fall 2021, there is not a specific trip planned. In fact, Haiti continues to have a Do Not Travel warning from the US State Department. This was initially related to COVID-19, as well as internal violence they were experiencing as a country. Lack of government leadership, political tension and gang violence have become significant problems, along with a hurting economy that has greatly increased the cost of even basic groceries (without increases in wages for those fortunate enough to have a job).
Executive Director/Founder, Bev May, was able to go for a month during the Fall of 2020. This trip was primarily administrative in nature and much was accomplished in terms of meetings and communication with the leaders and pastors of the Source de la Grace ministries that Haiti Joy Hope supports and encourages.
Our hope has been that at least the Executive Director, Bev May, will be able to go again in the future. However, the condition of Haiti at this point (2026) is such that this looks impossible. It is important to note, however, that she & Haiti Joy Hope are still able to maintain contact with those they serve in Port-au-Prince. They will continue to share with you from the perspective of the School in the way of videos, photos & reports from Source de la Grace - in order to give a clear and current view of this vital area of ministry and hope in Haiti. Haiti Joy Hope needs to raise funds to cover the school’s basic operational costs (teachers’ salaries and fundamental teaching resources) — $3,000-5,000/month year-round — and we welcome and appreciate your participation in this vital project that impacts 200-400 children and their families every year. Please join us in praying diligently for them, and providing for the basic needs of many there through the School, School Feeding Program & Family Food Kits (when school is not in session). It is our privilege to be making a difference for this hurting community & country.
